Cold brew grind size: extra coarse
Cold brew steeps for hours, so it takes the coarsest grind your grinder makes. Dilute the concentrate about 1:1 to serve.

If your cold brew tastes wrong
| It tastes | Why | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| Bitter, woody | Grind too fine or steeped too long | Go coarser or cut the steep to 12 hours |
| Weak, tea-like | Too little coffee or too short a steep | Use a 1:7 concentrate or steep to 16-18 hours |
| Cloudy, gritty | Fines passing the filter | Go coarser and filter a second time through paper |
Fix the beans too
Fresh beans hold a grind setting.
Coffee changes as it ages, so a setting that works on day 10 drifts by day 40. A subscription keeps the beans in the window.
